DESCRIPTION:Join local Frederick home bakers Jon and Emily for a hands-on\, beginner-friendly sourdough bread workshop at Tenth Ward Distilling Company in Downtown Frederick! \nIn this 2-hour class\, we will practice mixing and shaping a traditional sourdough bâtard (an oval-shaped loaf). \nYou will leave class with: \n\nyour own sourdough starter (+ feeding instructions)\nbanneton proofing basket + cloth liner + bench scraper\na shaped dough to bake at home the same afternoon as class\na bonus dough to practice another shape & bake at home\nprinted and PDF versions of the recipe and instructions taught in class\nsupport from your new sourdough bread baking friends!\n\nAt home\, you will need an oven that reaches 450 degrees F and an oven-safe vessel in which to bake your dough. We highly recommend a 5-7 quart cast iron Dutch oven (enameled or raw cast iron\, doesn’t matter). \nThat being said\, any high-walled pot with a tight-fitting lid to trap steam will work — as long as it can withstand 450-degree heat\, you can bake in it. \nOne last note — our recipe (and most sourdough recipes you’ll find online) measure ingredients by weight\, so you will want a kitchen scale if you don’t already have one for future baking!
