Art at Night: Jamaican Art & Visual Culture
Tenth Ward will be offering samples of our [secret!] Ragin’ Rum at this special Delaplaine Art at Night event.
Ivy Chevers will discuss Jamaican art with an emphasis on Rastafarian material culture. She will explore the relationships between art, religion, history, and social movements in Jamaica, addressing works by intuitive artist Mallica “Kapo” Reynolds, expressionistic sculptor and painter Christopher González (best-known for his controversial statue of Bob Marley), and more recent contemporary Jamaican artists. A tasting of locally crafted rum from Tenth Ward Distillery and Helles Belles Lager from Mad Science Brewery will be featured. Open to adults 21 and older. Admission is free!
