Expansion Time – Tenth Ward News Coming your Way!

Happy June, everybody! It’s nice to meet you all. I’m Bret Kimbrough, your new head distiller at Tenth Ward, and I am very excited to be telling you about our upcoming plans at the distillery. I have been in the business of fermenting things since 1996 and I am thrilled to become a part of the talented, hard working group that makes Tenth Ward so special.
I joined the team here on May 2nd and since then my awesome distilling crew, Dan and Kay, and I have been working hard to bring you all the great craft spirits you expect from Tenth Ward, and some new goodies as well. We have already put away two barrels of smoked corn whiskey that will turn into smooth sipping smoked bourbon in the coming months, with many more barrel fills coming in the very near future. We’ve also churned out a new batch of absinthe and some fresh genever is on the horizon, as well. But don’t worry folks, no major recipe changes here, just some upgrades.

But, wait! There’s more! We are very pleased to announce that we have begun making our own Maryland Style Rye Whiskey made with 100% malted rye! Our first batch will be going into barrels this month and we promise we will let you all know as soon as it is ready to drink. I look forward to sipping a dram with everyone at the Lab when release day comes.
For our friends in Virginia we have even more great news! Our Peach Clementine Lemonade Iced Tea and our Queen Bee’s Knees (previous canned cocktail club release) canned cocktails have been accepted by the Virginia ABC and we will be making our first delivery on June 15th! They will be available at every store in the state, so nobody will miss out on these delicious summertime refreshers. Check your local store shelves later this month to get your 4-packs.
And last, but certainly not least, we are thrilled to let you know that thanks to your loyalty and support, Tenth Ward Distilling is growing later this summer. We are adding a 2000 liter still and 4,500 square feet to our existing 1000 liter still, 8,700 square foot facility so that we can bring you more of the awesome whiskey, canned cocktails and other craft spirits your hearts desire.
So, thank you all for being fans of Tenth Ward these last 6 years and we look forward to many more years of being your favorite Maryland distillery.
